Pop reports tell you what is actually rare

A population report is the grading company's running census: for every card, how many copies PSA has graded and how many earned each grade. It is the closest thing this hobby has to a rarity ledger, and it settles arguments that price guides can't.

The catch is access. PSA's own report now requires a Collectors account login, and even signed in, it works like a phone book. You look up one card, read its row, and start over. There is no way to ask the question collectors actually have: show me everything, sorted by what's hardest to find in a 10.

Where the numbers come from

PSA population data: Aggregated from GemRate's public PSA population tracking: 34.3 million graded Pokemon cards counted across more than 1,500 sets, from 1996 Japanese Base Set to this year's releases. BetterPop refreshes weekly.
Why not PSA directly: PSA's pop report now requires a Collectors account login, and PSA's public API only covers certificate lookups (verified August 2026). The census still exists; you just can't browse it there.
Card images: Matched from the official Pokemon TCG API for English sets and TCGplayer's public catalog for Japanese ones. Match rates are reported honestly at build time instead of hiding gaps.
Freshness: Every figure on this page was generated from the August 13, 2026 pull when the site was built. Nothing here is typed in by hand, so the numbers can't quietly rot.

Questions collectors ask

What is a Pokemon pop report?

A pop report is PSA's running census of every card it has ever graded, broken out by grade. The full walkthrough, including how to read a row before you buy or submit, is in our guide to what a pop report is.

Is BetterPop free?

Yes. BetterPop is free, with no account and no paid tier. PSA population data is public information about a shared hobby, and browsing it should not require a login.

Where does BetterPop's data come from?

From GemRate's public PSA population tracking, which counts 34.3 million graded Pokemon cards across more than 1,500 sets. BetterPop refreshes the dataset weekly; the current pull is from August 13, 2026.

Why does BetterPop hide cards with fewer than 25 grades by default?

A card graded three times with one PSA 10 looks rare and means almost nothing. The default filter asks for at least 25 total grades before a card competes on scarcity. You can lower the threshold to zero whenever you want.

Does a low PSA 10 pop make a card valuable?

Not by itself. Value needs demand as well as scarcity, and some low pop numbers just mean nobody submits the card. Pop tells you how hard a gem is to find; the market decides what that is worth. Our guide to low pop Pokemon cards covers how to tell the difference.
